What is covered, and what is not

7Analytica today covers one sector, geopolitics and borders, and reads live data from real sources. This page says what that includes, how fresh it is and where the record has gaps.

01 Regions

Eight zones, unevenly filled.

A zone is a set of countries whose outlets are read together. A deeper tint means more outlets. Thin zones are marked, because a gap in the record is not proof that nothing happened. In plain words: the world is split into eight areas, and this shows how many news outlets we read in each.

A world map divided into the eight media zones 7Analytica uses. Outlets per zone: North America 2, Europe 7, Asia 6, South America & Caribbean 2, Africa 2, MENA / Gulf 4, Oceania & Polar 2, Digital & Gray Zones 2. Zone 08, Digital and gray zones, is a strip below the map.

  • Solid outline: 3 or more outlets
  • Dashed outline: 2 or fewer, so thin
  • Deeper tint is more outlets

Read About the eight zones

Eight zones, unevenly filled

Reporting is grouped into eight geographic media zones. The map tints each by how many outlets the source list holds there. Some zones are thin on purpose: it shows what a gap looks like.

02 Source types

Text reports in. Everything else, listed.

Sample means shown in the live demo. Planned means designed but not built. Not covered means out of scope today, so its absence is not a surprise.

What kinds of source

Text reports only. Anything else is listed so its absence is not a surprise.

Source types, whether each is in the demo, planned or not covered, and what that means
Source typeStatusWhat it means
News agencies and wire reportsSampleOutlets that file for others. Ownership is shown so a relay can be told from an origin.
National and regional outletsSamplePlaced in one of eight media zones. State, public, private and non-profit ownership is labelled.
State and official statementsSampleTreated as a source with its own interest, and marked as such.
Primary documentsPlannedTreaties, filings and orders are linked where a report cites them. Collecting them is not built.
Broadcast, audio and video transcriptsNot coveredText reports only.
Social media posts and accountsNot coveredNot read and not analysed. See the comparison with social listening.
Satellite and other imageryNot coveredNot analysed. Imagery verification is a specialist method.
Private, paywalled or restricted dataNot coveredOnly material anyone can lawfully see is in scope.

03 Language and freshness

Live, in English, against a 30-day baseline.

Each report shows when it was filed and when it was captured, and a gap in fetching shows as a gap. Heat in a zone compares today with the past 30 days.

30daysThe baseline a zone is measured against

An illustration, not real data. A line of daily readings for one zone stays in a narrow band for most of 30 days, then rises well above the band before settling back. The band is the baseline.

Read Language, refresh and baselines

Language and freshness

Languages
Reporting is read in English. An outlet in another language appears only through English reports about it. Native-language reading is planned.
Refresh cadence
The reads live data from real sources. Each report shows when it was filed and when it was captured, and a gap in fetching is shown as a gap, not hidden.
Baselines
heat is measured against a 30-day baseline, calculated from the data itself. The inputs are listed with each reading.
Per-outlet cadence
A refresh cadence is stated for each outlet where one is known.

04 What is not covered

Read these before you rely on a record.

  • Not minute-by-minute
  • One sector only
  • English text
  • No completeness claim

Read The limits, in full

The limits, plainly

Read these before relying on a record. The page on AI and limits covers the method; the roadmap says what is planned.

Not minute-by-minute
7Analytica reads live data from real sources. It is not built for second-by-second alerts on breaking posts.
One sector only
Geopolitics and borders. No other subject is covered. The plan is to grow to 15 sectors, which are not named yet and have no date.
English text
Reporting is read in English. Reading outlets in their own language is planned, not built.
A thin zone is not a quiet zone
Where few outlets are held, a gap in the record is not evidence that nothing happened.
Eight zones are a simplification
A country sits in one , though real sometimes straddles two. The assignment is best-effort geography, not a diplomatic statement.
No completeness claim
Nothing on this site says that every report, outlet or event is seen.

Coverage questions

Which regions does 7Analytica cover?

Reporting is grouped into eight media : North America, Europe, Asia, South America and the Caribbean, Africa, MENA and Gulf, Oceania and Polar, and a digital and gray zones strip. Coverage across them is uneven.

Is 7Analytica a live news feed?

It reads live data from real sources in one sector, geopolitics and borders, but it is not a general news feed and not built for minute-by-minute alerts. The inputs behind every score are shown.

Which languages are supported?

Reporting is read in English. Reading outlets in their own language is planned and is not built.

How often is the data refreshed?

The data is read live. Each report shows when it was filed and when it was captured, and a refresh cadence is stated per outlet where one is known.
